Lucid Training Ltd was created to offer the highest quality training and consultancy services for businesses. Our health and safety services are wide ranging, from general manual handling training courses through to asbestos and laser safety services. Our staff have a passion for their specialist subjects and a desire to impart knowledge and skills clearly to others. It is our staff who make us special, so we tell you about who we are and the qualifications we have. We build working relationships with our clients and we want to ensure our training and consultancy results in healthy, safe businesses that can prosper and grow.
The 'Lucid' brand name was chosen since we believe that training should be broken-down into simple blocks and clearly delivered.
Some questions to ask about any training course provider are:
- Instructor Qualifications & experience: see the staff page for more information about each of our instructors.
- Number of trainees: we take a maximum of six delegates on some public courses, with up to ten on others. With smaller numbers on training courses there is more interaction and you learn more.
- Equipment: We invest in equipment and models to help demonstrate or practice principles of safe and healthy working.
- Training facility: click here for more about our custom built training centre.
- Manufacturer ties: as an independent training company we are not required to use or recommend any one brand of equipment.
- Support: what on-going support will you get? At Lucid free support over the telephone is standard. This in itself has more than paid for the cost of the training course for several trainees.
- Solvency: we strongly recommend checking references and looking up the status of any training providers on Companies House website at www.companieshouse.gov.uk/info/ - training is often paid for in advance so don't risk losing your cash or deposit with disreputable companies.

Similarly, as a member of the Open College Network (OCN), the regional organisers, TROCN, appoint a qualified assessor to check and report on our training programmes.
These comments and reports by independent auditors are significant because it is very rare for a centre ever to be stripped of approval, but many get poor or mediocre reports with recommendations for improvements.
Lucid has consistantly had exceptionally good reports - try our training courses and find out why for yourself.
We have also collected all of the comments trainees have written on their course report forms since Lucid Optical Services Ltd. started. Click here to read the comments.
Quality Health and Safety Training Provider
Health and Safety training is something that companies often provide to employees when they realise, or are concerned, that there could be some issues. This health and safety training provisioon is often a one-off, so it is important that the training is good and involving.
Although it is possible to provide useful health and safety training to a large group, the group dynamics mean that people are inhibited and shy about asking questions. With smaller groups the training can be far more involving with trainees feeling free to ask questions and express opinions. This type of more open health and safety training is far more involving and enjoyable for the trainees, but with more information imparted too.
Smaller group sizes on Health and Safety training courses does not necessarily mean that the training is more expensive, and additionally it can fit in with companies needing some staff to cover whilst other undergo training.
Health and safety training providers who cater for larger group sizes are normally just seeking more profit for less work or expense. This is probably the most telling sign of a providers attitude to training course delivery. The 'bums on seats' approach as opposed to the contacts for life with quality training provision that the training provider can be proud of.
Bottom line is - ask how many people are allowed on each course this could be your best indicator to training quality!
