Health and Safety Executive (HSE)
The Health and Safety Executive is the enforcing body of the Health and Safety Commission, the body responsible for health and safety in the UK. The Health and Safety Commission work with local authorities to enforce health and safety in offices, shops and service sectors, with the HSE used for other and more major industries.
NEBOSH
The National Examination Board in Occupational Safety and Health (NEBOSH) is an independent awarding body for health and safety qualifications. Their qualifications are well-respected and sometimes seen as a standard for health and safety training professionals.
IOSH
The Institute of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH) is an independent and not-for-profit organisation. They are Europe's leading body for Health and Safety professionals, and have a worldwide membership. Their health and safety qualifications are regarded as the standard in most industries and businesses.
CIEH
The Chartered Institute of Environmental Health (CIEH) is a professional body at the forefront of environmental and public health. They have a reputaion as the body of choice for qualifications in food hygiene and related areas.
OCN
The Open College Network (OCN) are a UK awarding body who provide qualifications in a wide range of fields and industries. The OCN are the awarding body for the level 2 "Laser Safety Introduction" qualification, a well-respected qualifications for individuals who may work with laser based equipment and require a good introductory grounding in laser safety.
Photonics Cluster
The Photonics Cluster (previously Midlands Photonics Cluster or MPC) was created to offer a focal point for photonics companies and academic institutions in the Midlands.
The Photonics Cluster is based at Aston Science park, and has many members with an interest in Laser safety and Lamp, LED or extended source safety issues. As a result Lucid is developing
Lucid was a founder member of the Midlands Photonics Cluster, with the added honour of membership number 1. We were specially invited to participate, in spite of being based in Cumbria, since the MPC was the photonics cluster nearest to us. Now the cluster has no regional borders, it has many membersfrom even further afield than we are.

National Physical Laboratory (NPL)
NPL is the UK's national standards laboratory, responsible for national measurement standards & calibration issues. NPL also runs the UK Fibre-Optic Technology Network (FOToN) club.
