At
Lucid we are a well-respected City and Guilds approved assessment centre.
As a result we have agreed to offer some City and Guilds qualifications
on an exam-only basis as a service to our clients. One such qualification
is the new (2008) City and Guilds 2382 award otherwise commonly known as
the '17th edition' in reference to it being an examination of the candidates
knowledge of the BS 7671:2008 17th Edition IEE Wiring Regulations.

Status of the 17th Edition IEE Wiring Regulations
The well-known 16th edition of the IEE wiring regulations has been superceded by the new 17th edition IEE Wiring Regulationsas from the 1st July 2008. From this date all new domestic, industrial and commercial wiring should have conformed to these new regulations, as they are a national regulation and not just an advisory standard.
New City and Guilds 2382-10 Qualification for 17th Edition
For new trainees or aspiring electricians, the new qualification to replace the City and Guilds 2381 16th edition is the City and Guilds 2382-10 qualification that demonstrates an adequate awareness and knowledge of the IEE 17th Edition (BS 7671: 2008) Wiring Regulations.
Upgrading from 16th Edition to 17th Edition Qualification with City & Guilds
For those electricians already qualified under the 16th Edition of the IEE Wiring Regulations, City and Guilds have provided a simpler upgrade path to full 17th Edition award and qualification.
For holders of the current City and Guilds 2381 (16th edition) qualification, there is a new City and Guilds 2382-20 'Upgrade' qualification that demonstrates an awareness of the 17th Edition Wiring Regulations. This will be the examination route for most current, qualified electricians.
17th Edition City & Guilds Award Examination
The Examination for the City and Guilds 2382 qualification is a 2 hour multiple choice test downloaded to a test PC at our training centre. It is an open book examination so candidates can take copies of specified books, including the IEE 7671: 2008 17th Edition Wiring Regulations standard into the exam with them, but may not receive help or assistance from other candidates, and mobile telephones must be turned off.
City and Guilds 2382 Examination Fees
Our current standard fee for the City and Guilds 2382 qualifications is:
CG 2382 -10 'examination only' qualification is £125 + VAT.
CG 2382-20 'examination only' qualification is £125 + VAT
Special Offer: CG 2382-20 'Update' for just £95+VAT for candidates who did their CG 2381 award with Lucid.

City and Guilds 2382 17th Edition Examination Information
The City and Guilds 2382 qualification is awarded to successful candidates who pass an 'on-line' exam at a City and Guilds approved assessment centre. The 'on-line' examination is conducted through city and Guild's GOLA system which allows candidates to familiarise themselves with use of the software through a 'navigation' exercise before sitting the main test. At Lucid our expert staff guide you through this process and are on-hand to help if you have any problems with using the PC-based examination system.

Other Electrical Cabling Qualifications & Tests
If you are interested in any other electrical cabling qualifications then we would be very interested to hear from you. Electical cabling is not our core business, but it fits neatly between our communications cabling and our Health & Safety training services. There are aspects of both of these where a knowledge of electrical safety, earthing and bonding, and recommendations for best practice is a distinct advantage. We have therefore decided to offer these qualifications and awards with the emphasis being on providing a low-cost route for candidates.
